Hello! How are you? Welcome to the Portly Poodle!

Hello! How are you? Welcome! Welcome! So glad that you stopped by!

After a 20 year career in environmental services (the heavy lifting, cleaning up, outside all the time, sort of environmental services), building a house, and a mile long narrow gauge railroad, I grabbed the opportunity to pursue my passions of illustration, and creating popup cards!

So! Here I am!

I live in a small house in a small town in the Midwest.  My small house has a big yard, where an even bigger tree lives (you will be hearing about that tree. A lot. I love my giant maple tree!) In the house live two dogs, two cats (all rescues), and me, Together we make art and messes of all sorts!

This blog is about popup cards created and offered by Portly Poodle Popups. There will be tips and tricks, as I discover them, encouragement, and instructional videos.  There will also be the opportunity to purchase hand-made completely original popup cards available direct from the creator.

Possibly, in the future, I will be offering clip art and print and cut templates for you to use. Check back to see my progress on those items!

If you are a creative person who wants to explore the world of popup cards with a fellow traveler, this may be the place for you. Comments are welcome and encouraged!

I am not new to blogging, below are links to my very first posts on 3 of my previous blogs.

My very first blog post on my very first blog… February of 2004!

It took me a couple of years, but I added another one!  August of 2007!

Remember earlier that I said that I built a railroad?

Whew! That was a silly trip down memory lane!

Anyway, back to now.

As I started learning about popups, I found a lot of information out there! Some of the information worked for me, some of it did not. Like the most interesting of my popups, learning the art required many pieces, trial and error, and information from multiple sources. I intend to blog the ideas and methods that worked for me, AND the ones that didn’t because they might work for you! While my posts may not be able to solve your specific problem, possibly they can add a piece to whatever you are creating today.

Thank you so much for reading!

Until next time,

Mary
